Both Aboriginal and "settler" history are documented at the springs.
One is continually amazed at how far into the desert early settlers tried to grow grain crops,
fooled by a run of good seasons, then destroyed by the return to drought.
Dalhousie is the favoured start/destination for Simpson Desert crossings.
We would like to have visited the Dalhousie Station ruins, but these were off limits.

Dalhousie views.
We chose to make bush camp away from the springs (and other campers)
at a spot called Three O'clock Creek, which we had completely to ourselves.
(A glass of "red" and a good meal, by a camp-fire, in the quietness of the bush ...
What more could one want?)
