The little settlement of Aileron, initially little more than a pub to visit if you were desperate to get out of Alice Springs for a day or two, now promotes itself rater more strongly.
We had planned to head out east of the highway to camp at Arltunga Historical Reserve, but tiredness, threat of rain and need to download pictures and recharge electronic gear prevailed.

Alice Springs always seems to give a sense of arrival. From the south, it is Heavitree Gap. From the north, it is winding through hill country against the growing presence of the Macdonnell Ranges.
