Queensland Trip Day 18 - Monday 07 August 2017 - Atherton to Undara

FROM RAINFOREST TO SAVANNAH WOODLAND

What a relief. we thought we had escaped the tropical rainforest but patches of it persist on the mountains back in behind the main range.
By morning the fog had lifted and the dawn was lovely in the forest. After a walk, breakfast and breaking camp we drove along the mountain forest trail back into Atherton - real 4WD fun.
From there we drove across the beautiful farming country of the Atherton Tableland to our destination at Undara, where we had booked for camping and a tour of the volcanic tubes.

UNDARA VOLCANIC TUBES

It was warm. We had an hour or so to set up camp then present for the tour, in a group of 21 (a mini bus full) - all "olds" - relatively. The tour guide was excellent.

The evening was beautiful. We retired early after just sitting and enjoying it for a while.
