Queensland Trip Day 13 - Wednesday 02 August 2017 - Cairns to Mossman.

CAIRNS TO PORT DOUGLAS

The usual morning view from our Cairns motel window - early morning sports training.

Coastline and country to Port Douglas

 A lookout used for hang-gliding.

More sugar cane farms.

PORT DOUGLAS

Not really our scene but a pleasant lunch stop.

The little church "St Mary's by the sea" is a treasure.
The view from the window behind the altar could occupy the mind during a sermon.

ON TO MOSSMAN

A real country town in sugar country with a very pleasant and well run motel with and an unusually ornate hospital. A sugar train in the main street adds to the scene.

MOSSMAN GORGE IN THE DAINTREE WORLD HERITAGE AREA

Our arrival in mid afternoon allowed for a visit to the Mossman Gorge - what a treat.
The gorge centre is about 4 km from town, then you take a bus (15 minute service) to the gorge entrance. We walked for 6 kms or more along the several marked tracks.
