Queensland Trip Day 14 - Thursday 03 August 2017 - Mosssman and Daintree Village

A STROLL AROUND MOSSMAN

We spent some time in the historic St David's Anglican Church - a beautiful sacred place.
The present stone church was built in1912 to replace the original wooden church destroyed in a cyclone in 1911. The bell came from a shipwreck in1893.  Surrounding large Raintrees were planted by seed imported from Jamaica.

 A tastefully decorated public building.

"Butchering Company" - We don't recall ever having seen the term before.

Backdrop to the towns sportsgrounds.

THE TRIP TO AND FROM DAINTREE VILLAGE

Ponds and bubblers at a baramundi farm, "Bag a Barra".

 Memorial to a WW2 bombing.

DAINTREE VILLAGE ENVIRONS

Daintree River.

Along the way to where we were going to stay until the proprietor broke her ankle and was unable to have guests. It would have been very restful, about 8 kms out of town and located in lovely country.

SUGAR CANE FARMING

Harvesting.

Transport to the mill by truck or train.
There is a network of these special narrow guage lines, often alongside the road and sometimes sharing the same bridge (as seen here).

The Mossman mill.
