NORTHING DAY 08 - THURSDAY 07 JUNE 2018

TOWARDS DARWIN - DUNMARRA

Still on the Binns Track, we travelled to Whistle Duck Creek on the western edge of Davenport Ranges National Park and out to the Stuart Highway. By now we had decided that the final section of the Binns Track would have to wait until after our Darwin visit and were ready for the long haul involved in getting to Darwin in time for our accommodation.

Breaking camp and dawn photography at Old Police Station Waterhole.

Along the track towards Cloughs Bluff.
The track down from the bluff with a view of the surrounding plain.

On to Whistle Duck Creek - as beautiful as we had remembered it - now with a good number of very pleasant campsites located by different parts of the creek. (A good option for anyone wanting to visit the Davenport Ranges without the long trip into Old Police Station Waterhole.)

On out to the highway for a long trip to arrive late and low on fuel at Dunmarra, where we booked a room (simple but clean) to save time setting up and breaking camp. The Binns Track leaves the Stuart Highway at Dunmarra to take the Buchannan Highway to Judbarra/Gregory National Park.
A lone bustard by the road.

Evening at Dunmarra.
