West & North June - July 2016 : Day 10 - Thursday 07 July - Broome to Derby

An easy half-day of travel before an afternoon getting to experience a little of Derby.

Long straight stretches of road again, bordered by light scrub, occasional cattle, termite mounds a-plenty, a couple of narrow bridges and a new abbatoir (seemingly in the middle of nowhere).

Just outside  of Derby - the Boab Prison Tree (not a proud remnant of our history) and Myall's bore and cattle trough (said to be the longest such trough in the southern hemisphere).

In Derby, the local Shire Art Exhibition and  boabs everywhere.
A special interest (for John) - the old UAM (United Aborigines Mission) House, with a boab in the front yard.

Down at the port - remnants of ore and cattle exporting
but now, mostly tourism and recreational fishing.
