West & North June - July 2016 : Day 03 - Thursday 30 June - Caiguna to Kalgoorlie

We awoke "rested and ready" for a dawn start on the half day run into Kalgoorlie, hoping to find a mechanic to check out a suspicious brake action.
The trip involved driving Australia's longest stretch of straight road - no curves but enough undulations and changing scenery to keep us interested.

A quick drive through and refuel at Norseman saw us heading north to Kalgoorlie-Boulder.
Some interesting characters on amound of rubble just south of Kalgoorlie-Boulder.

Fortune was with us by way of an automotive service place with a slack afternoon and two young mechanics free to check and repair our brake problem (a worn out master cylinder).
This left us with the late afternoon for a visit to the excellent Visitor Information Centre in the old town hall building.

Paddy Hannon, finder of the Kalgoorlie gold, sits at the foot of the elegant stair-case to the auditorium where Dame Nellie Melba and other "greats" performed in their day.
