TIBOOBURRA TO BOURKE
We left Tibooburra with the possibility of an overnight stop at Wanaaring but later decided to drive on to Bourke for a mid-trip pause with two nights motel accommodation.
Early in the trip we found quite large and mature stands of mulga trees.
The road was unsealed through to Wanaaring with a variety of terrain but mostly flat. Nearer to Wanaaring there were signs of significant recent rain with water and grass by the road.
Wanaaring is a small bush town with limited facilities. There is good camping near the river just out of town but we were advised that mosquitoes would make it uncomfortable.
We saw a tanker collecting water from the river to meet water shortage in another community.
On towards Bourke : more trees and a sealed road.
A visit to the excellent Bourke Information Centre helped us find accommodation at North Bourke.
