Day 3 - On to Kingston

Leaving our motel under a fairly sunny morning sky, we set out for Kingston - Canada's oldest town, they say. The motel introduced us to what we realise has become the norm for Canadian motel breakfasts - weak coffee, juice, bagels, bread or waffles all served entirely with disposable plastic.


Large, mostly industrial/bedroom suburban townships extend well out of Toronto along the lakeshore and railway line. The prevalence of high/medium rise appartments near either shore or railway station was noteworthy.

 

Eventually pleasant old rural/tourist/retirement towns predominated.
Regretfully, rain set in, preventing us from visiting and walking in provincial parks that we had planned. 

 

 

A ferry ride just out of Picton added to the interest of the trip, as did the welcome to Kingston - a seemingly quite opulent penitentiary. 

 

Day 2 - Scarborough

A day of settling in, shopping at Tilleys (again) then Scarborough City Centre, followed by a walk and picnic tea by Highland Creek.

Day 1 - A walk by Lake Ontario, Scarboroug

From the airport we drove along the northern outskirts of Toronto to the Tilleys Factory Outlet store at Don Mills Rd then on to the motel at Scarborough. The range of stock at Tilleys is excellent. We both bought new Tilley hats for the trip and beyond. Once settled in, we drove to a lakefront park for some walking and photography. Tea was Domino's pizza in a small local park.

 

 

 

 

 

 

AIRPORTS

Airports? Yuk! We've had enough of them for now - four in around 30 hours, including eight or so in Los Angeles, mostly getting through Border Protection and Security, then back in again for our flight on to Toronto. Our salvation there was having access to the Air Canada Lounge through a subscription to Priority Pass.
