Elliston and more 2021 (to Minnipa).

With Covid 19 travel restrictions and our own aging, thoughts of one last big trip to Darwin via Western Australia have been cancelled. We have sold "Henry", our 4WD, and now only have our Honda Jazz for travels. Visits to Elliston and Minnipa  have been on our list for years, as the two "West Coast" postings that we turned down to go to Amata. Leaving Laura on Saturday 22 May, we travelled to Minnipa for two nights, Elliston for four nights then back to Laura via Port Gibbon (near Cowell) for two nights. We used AirBNB accommodation for each location.

DAYS 1-2 : LAURA TO MINNIPA

Our local silo art at Wirrabara.

Silo art at Kimba.

Unadorned silos (all that there is) at Buckleboo.

Edward John Eyre statue at Kimba.

Roora Water Catchment Project at Kimba.

Remnants of the old Pinkawillinie School.

Our accommodation at Minnipa (clean and well equipped).

We visited the nearby Yarwondutta Rock for sunset.

On Sunday we drove out to Pildappa Rock (the SA competitor to Wave Rock in Western Australia).

Both Pildappa Rock and Yarwondutta Rock have trenches built at their bases to catch rain water from them.

View from Pildappa of dust rising on the plain ahead of a change.

The old Minnipa School - apparently now a residence.
