NORTHING DAY 26 - MONDAY 25 JUNE 2018

SOUTHERN LOST CITY AND ON TO BORROLOOLA

Awakening at dawn in the Southern Lost City was a delight. After sunrise shots of the "city", we did the loop walk over the top of the formation before driving on to our target of Borroloola.

Borroloola was interesting. The town seems mostly committed to servicing recreational fishers. The airport has helicopters in and out, transporting them to and from the fishing grounds/camps in the gulf. The majority of those in the camping ground appeared to be there for fishing. Finding our way into the hotel-motel for a drink just proved too hard, but the one supermarket was well organised and stocked.  Just out of town was a large indigenous community with its own store, a large school and more. It was almost like two separate towns.
The museum, formerly police station, is said to be very interesting, but was not open.
