West & North June - July 2016 : Day 02 - Wednesday 29 June - Head of the Gulf to Caiguna

A frosty start to the day warmed by some wonderful whale watching.
... then a long but interesting trip across much of the Nullarbor - constantly changing vegetation (if not topography) and the occasional detour to coastal lookouts.

Eventually the promise of rain, or maybe it was just fatigue, made us consider a "rather basic" but very welcome motel in the tiny highway-side fuel stop of Caiguna. We have discovered that, other than the mostly service town of Eucla, there are no highway townships in Western Australia until Norsemen.

West & North June - July 2016 : Day 01 - Tuesday 28 June - Laura to Head of the Gulf

Our interesting "escape" from normality started on Sunday 26 June dropping Bwana off to Michele, Peter and Ben then attending an excellent performance of "Annelies" by the Adelaide Chamber Singers at "The Village Well", Aldgate. Soloist was Greta Bradman - her voice has an outstanding range through soprano-mezzo and great strength. Her presence through the performance was gently captivating - almost operatic. We really appreciate ACS and are now subscribng to them for our second year. Back to Lightsview to change cars and then drive to Laura our second home.

Monday 27 June was preparing and packing the  new "Maverick", some gardening for Beth and an early night.

Tuesday 28 June was a 5.30 a.m. start - cold and misty/frosty through the southern Flinders and on out onto upper Eyre Peninsula. Destination was Fowlers Bay but, after a short perusal there, we decided to push on further.

Dawn refueling at Port Augusta.

Port Lincoln and Thevenard (grain and gypsum shipping).

Fowlers Bay

Overnight camp was in our swags "under the stars" at the "Head of the Gulf" camp-ground. The "Milky Way" was unbelievable.
