Day 6 - Strolling around downtown Ottawa
Day 6 - Sunday market in Ottawa
Days 5 & 6 - Gatineau - Automotive matters
Day 5 - Gatineau - A walk before tea.
Day 5 - Gatineau & hinterland
Our motel in Gatineau - welcoming, clean, comfortable - what more does one want?
A trip north to visit Val-des-Monts, where we had considered booking a lakeside cottage but considered too long and missed it. It is a region of small townships, pleasant agricultural country and lakes. Unfortunately most of the lakes seemed to be surrounded by private properties leaving little public access.

Day 4 - Frontinac Provincial Park on the way to Gatineau
The day was perfect, the road quiet, a park ranger outstandingly helpful and the park beautiful.
We walked for two hours over some eight kms of moderately demanding but very rewarding terrian, without seeing another person.
Traffic conditions changed as we drove into Ottawa and over the river to Gatineau. A wrong turning over the wrong bridge found us in the wrong place at the wrong time (heavy Friday afternoon traffic) and John briefly on the wrong side of a minor road (to the mild alarm of some locals). However, we eventually got it sorted out and found our way to the motel.
